While Mom and Dad were in the hospital, our Grandmother came out to watch us. While she was here we made this!

I turned out pretty good and tasted AWESOME!

Today’s Scripture Meditation

Psalm 5:11-12

“But let all who take refuge in you be glad; let them ever sing for joy.
Spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may rejoice in you.
For surely, O LORD, you blessthe righteous;
you surround them with your favor as with a shield.”

I will post more soon!

Dad’s Birthday!

March 9, 2007

Hello Everyone!

Today I would like to start my blog post by wishing Dad a Happy Birthday!

My siblings and I made Dad a film for his birthday which we will present to him tonight… It’s called (NO PEEKING DAD) Are You Smarter Than Preschooler .

It works like this, I was the host who would ask unanswerable questions that relate to preschool topics. For example, one topic was on our invention EZ Phonics. I would ask “How many A’s are on page 97?”, then I would pretend that the preschooler had the right answer. There was no way for the older person to win! It was hilarious!

Today’s Scripture Meditation

Ezra 1:1-11CHAPTER 1
1 In the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, in order to fulfill the word of the LORD spoken by Jeremiah, the LORD moved the heart of Cyrus king of Persia to make a proclamation throughout his realm and to put it in writing:

2 “This is what Cyrus king of Persia says: “‘The LORD, the God of heaven, has given me all the kingdoms of the earth and he has appointed me to build a temple for him at Jerusalem in Judah.

3 Anyone of his people among you– may his God be with him, and let him go up to Jerusalem in Judah and build the temple of the LORD, the God of Israel, the God who is in Jerusalem.

4 And the people of any place where survivors may now be living are to provide him with silver and gold, with goods and livestock, and with freewill offerings for the temple of God in Jerusalem.’”

5 Then the family heads of Judah and Benjamin, and the priests and Levites– everyone whose heart God had moved– prepared to go up and build the house of the LORD in Jerusalem.

6 All their neighbors assisted them with articles of silver and gold, with goods and livestock, and with valuable gifts, in addition to all the freewill offerings.

7 Moreover, King Cyrus brought out the articles belonging to the temple of the LORD, which Nebuchadnezzar had carried away from Jerusalem and had placed in the temple of his god.

8 Cyrus king of Persia had them brought by Mithredath the treasurer, who counted them out to Sheshbazzar the prince of Judah.

9 This was the inventory: gold dishes 30 silver dishes 1,000 silver pans 29

10 gold bowls 30 matching silver bowls 410 other articles 1,000

11 In all, there were 5,400 articles of gold and of silver. Sheshbazzar brought all these(NIV)

Today’s Scripture Meditation

Job 5:1-27
1 “Call if you will, but who will answer you? To which of the holy ones will you turn?
2 Resentment kills a fool, and envy slays the simple.
3 I myself have seen a fool taking root, but suddenly his house was cursed.
4 His children are far from safety, crushed in court without a defender.
5 The hungry consume his harvest, taking it even from among thorns, and the thirsty pant after his wealth.
6 For hardship does not spring from the soil, nor does trouble sprout from the ground.
7 Yet man is born to trouble as surely as sparks fly upward.
8 “But if it were I, I would appeal to God; I would lay my cause before him.
9 He performs wonders that cannot be fathomed, miracles that cannot be counted.
10 He bestows rain on the earth; he sends water upon the countryside.
11 The lowly he sets on high, and those who mourn are lifted to safety.
12 He thwarts the plans of the crafty, so that their hands achieve no success.
13 He catches the wise in their craftiness, and the schemes of the wily are swept away.
14 Darkness comes upon them in the daytime; at noon they grope as in the night.
15 He saves the needy from the sword in their mouth; he saves them from the clutches of the powerful.
16 So the poor have hope, and injustice shuts its mouth.
17 “Blessed is the man whom God corrects; so do not despise the discipline of the Almighty.
18 For he wounds, but he also binds up; he injures, but his hands also heal.
19 From six calamities he will rescue you; in seven no harm will befall you.
20 In famine he will ransom you from death, and in battle from the stroke of the sword.
21 You will be protected from the lash of the tongue, and need not fear when destruction comes.
22 You will laugh at destruction and famine, and need not fear the beasts of the earth.
23 For you will have a covenant with the stones of the field, and the wild animals will be at peace with you.
24 You will know that your tent is secure; you will take stock of your property and find nothing missing.
25 You will know that your children will be many, and your descendants like the grass of the earth.
26 You will come to the grave in full vigor, like sheaves gathered in season.
27 “We have examined this, and it is true. So hear it and apply it to yourself.”

Tuesday!

February 6, 2007

Hello Everyone!

Well, we didn’t get the tub in yesterday. UGH! But we did get the backer board cut, and we found the pipe wrench dad needed. So our new goal is to have the tub in before the end of the week.

Last night, my mom made sourdough bread. Then we took the leftover dough and made cinnamon rolls. Those are Soooooooooooooooooo good!!!! So I decided to share the recipe!

This recipe is from my mom’s blog.

Sourdough Bread

The recipe for this sourdough starter is as follows:

3/4c sugar
3T instant potato flakes
1c warm water
3 pkgs. dry yeast, dissolved in 1/2c warm water

Mix together and pour into a jar with a loose covering and refrigerate. In 3-5 days, you will need to feed it.

The feeder recipe:

3/4c sugar
3 T instant potato flakes
1c warm water

After adding the feeder ingredients, leave the jar sitting our, loosely covered for 8-12 hours. After the sitting time is up, if you are going to make the bread, stir the mixture and pour one cup of the starter mixture into a large bowl. Put the rest of the starter back into the fridge. If you are not making bread at this time, either give away a cup of the starter or pour it out.

Now, you are ready to bake bread!

Sourdough Bread Recipe:

1c starter
1/4c sugar
1/2c oil
1 1/2c warm water
1T salt
6c bread flour (you can substitute at least half with whole wheat if you would like)

Mix all ingredients well, then place in a large, well oiled bowl to rise. This dough should be soft and sticky, not a ball like some bread dough. Pat the top of the dough with oil and cover with plastic wrap. Allow to rise for 8-12 hours.

After the first rising, gently punch down and knead the dough a few times right in the bowl. Divide the dough into 3 or 4 parts, then knead each on a floured surface 12-15 times. Place into greased loaf pans, or on a greased baking sheet. Pat the tops with oil again, and cover loosely. Allow to rise again for 8-12 hours.

Bake at 350^ for about 30-35 minutes until the tops are well browned but not burned. Brush the tops with butter while they are still warm.

Additional Notes:

Do not use metal containers or utensils with this recipe.

If your starter becomes a little sluggish, you can add 1/2 pkg. yeast, 1t sugar and 1/4c warm water in addition to the regular feeder.

Today’s Scripture Meditation

Phile 1:1-25CHAPTER 1
1 Paul, a prisoner of Christ Jesus, and Timothy our brother, To Philemon our dear friend and fellow worker,2 to Apphia our sister, to Archippus our fellow soldier and to the church that meets in your home:3 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.4 I always thank my God as I remember you in my prayers,5 because I hear about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints.6 I pray that you may be active in sharing your faith, so that you will have a full understanding of every good thing we have in Christ.7 Your love has given me great joy and encouragement, because you, brother, have refreshed the hearts of the saints.8 Therefore, although in Christ I could be bold and order you to do what you ought to do,9 yet I appeal to you on the basis of love. I then, as Paul– an old man and now also a prisoner of Christ Jesus–10 I appeal to you for my son Onesimus, who became my son while I was in chains.11 Formerly he was useless to you, but now he has become useful both to you and to me.12 I am sending him– who is my very heart– back to you.13 I would have liked to keep him with me so that he could take your place in helping me while I am in chains for the gospel.14 But I did not want to do anything without your consent, so that any favor you do will be spontaneous and not forced.15 Perhaps the reason he was separated from you for a little while was that you might have him back for good–16 no longer as a slave, but better than a slave, as a dear brother. He is very dear to me but even dearer to you, both as a man and as a brother in the Lord.17 So if you consider me a partner, welcome him as you would welcome me.18 If he has done you any wrong or owes you anything, charge it to me.19 I, Paul, am writing this with my own hand. I will pay it back– not to mention that you owe me your very self.20 I do wish, brother, that I may have some benefit from you in the Lord; refresh my heart in Christ.21 Confident of your obedience, I write to you, knowing that you will do even more than I ask.22 And one thing more: Prepare a guest room for me, because I hope to be restored to you in answer to your prayers.23 Epaphras, my fellow prisoner in Christ Jesus, sends you greetings.24 And so do Mark, Aristarchus, Demas and Luke, my fellow workers.25 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit.(NIV)

Textured Paint..

February 1, 2007

Good Morning Everyone!

Today’s house repair project has been painting our walls. (See Picture On Top.)
Textured paint is hard to put on the walls. First Courtney spreads it on the wall
then I would come back with the roller and run it over the paint. The roller has
grooves on it that gives the walls a textured finish.

In edition to painting today are family has been doing school, various web projects, my mom has been tiling, and we have been straghtening the house.

Random thing you did not know about our family.

In our house, everyone who is old enough to cook a meal does!
I cook breakfast, Jacob and Jessica cook lunch, and Courtney Cooks dinner.

What I am learning

NEVER let textured paint get on trim it is VERY hard to get off ;)

Today’s task.

Work on memorizing 2 John.

Finish some web projects.

Finish School.

Today’s Scripture Meditation

II Jn 1:1-13
1 The elder, To the chosen lady and her children, whom I love in the truth– and not I only, but also all who know the truth–
2 because of the truth, which lives in us and will be with us forever:
3 Grace, mercy and peace from God the Father and from Jesus Christ, the Father’s Son, will be with us in truth and love.
4 It has given me great joy to find some of your children walking in the truth, just as the Father commanded us.
5 And now, dear lady, I am not writing you a new command but one we have had from the beginning. I ask that we love one another.
6 And this is love: that we walk in obedience to his commands. As you have heard from the beginning, his command is that you walk in love.
7 Many deceivers, who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh, have gone out into the world. Any such person is the deceiver and the Antichrist.
8 Watch out that you do not lose what you have worked for, but that you may be rewarded fully.
9 Anyone who runs ahead and does not continue in the teaching of Christ does not have God; whoever continues in the teaching has both the Father and the Son.
10 If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not take him into your house or welcome him.
11 Anyone who welcomes him shares in his wicked work.
12 I have much to write to you, but I do not want to use paper and ink. Instead, I hope to visit you and talk with you face to face, so that our joy may be complete.
13 The children of your chosen sister send their greetings.
(NIV)
